Information

This expedition is based on the famous book “Roots” written by Alex Haley, the African American autor who claimed to have traced one of his ancestors back to the village Juffureh and Kunta Kinteh. In 1977 and 2016 two mini-series were made based on the book. The story of Kunta Kinteh, who is the central character, was born in this village. He was sold into slavery and take to America. In Juffureh you can meet the descendants of the Kintheh family.
